A 12-year-old Washington boy steals his grandfather’s car and drives 260 miles before he is arrested

12-year-old boy in Washington State was arrested after he allegedly stole his grandfather’s car and drove it approximately 260 miles across the state.

Issaquah police notified police Grant County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook that the boy had stolen his grandfather’s vehicle and was possibly headed toward Grand County.

According to the sheriff’s office, the boy has some ties to the town of Moses Lake, which is located in Grant County.

The sheriff’s traffic unit searched for the car and located it parked on the curb in the 900 block of Lowry Street in the Larson Community of Moses Lake around 10:20 a.m.

The boy then fled in the car and led deputies on a short chase that ended when the deputy performed a PIT maneuver near Randolph Road and State Route 17.

The 12-year-old was arrested and placed in custody Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and evading a crime.

The sheriff’s office said no one was injured and damage to the vehicle was minimal.
