Houston Academy player seriously injured during team’s playoff win: report

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – A Houston Academy football player was seriously injured during their playoff win on Friday night.

Martin Andre, an attacker and defender, fell when he came off the field and started grabbing the ball in the third quarter, Dothan Eagle reported.

The Eagle wrote that Raider head coach Eddie Brundidge said Andre underwent surgery in Dothan shortly after the injury to relieve pressure on his brain, and emergency crews were expected to take him to a hospital in Birmingham.

According to the MaxPreps website, Andrew played multiple Raider sports.

Houston Academy defeated Southside of Selma to advance to the 3A state championship.
